This program teaches students about the biology, ecology, and control of local vectors. It also serves to inform the public about the services that the District provides, and strives to foster student interest in entomology and ecology.
Scope of program:
Free in-class presentations are available to all local schools in Marin and Sonoma counties (all grades) on a first-come first-served basis:
Our teacher companion site offers ideas to help prepare students for a vector presentation, as well as a variety of follow-up lessons/activities.
Click here for a (painfully) detailed overview of our vector education program (this is intended to be used by other vector control agencies who are developing a similar program).
We schedule presentations three times a year. In August we schedule fall presentations, in mid-December we schedule spring presentations, and in May we schedule summer presentations. We announce that the schedule is "open" by sending out an email to all teachers who are on our Mosquito School Newsletter list.
If you are interested in being notified about scheduling a presentation, have specific questions about our education program, or want to request a classroom tick packet, please email Eric Engh.
